Pilates matwork classes suitable for all abilities

Matwork classes focus on a series of movements incorporating strength, flexibility and mobility. The exercises are progressive and safe, allowing you to work at your own pace with an emphasis on technique and individual progress. There are 3 main types of classes:

Our Pilates matwork classes run continuously in blocks of 7 weeks and can be booked online. You are welcome to join at any point within the 7 weeks with a pro rata payment.

Mixed Ability class: (suitable for all levels of ability including beginners, pre & post natal)

The emphasis is on technique and individual progress with several levels of difficulty offered within each exercise to ensure you work at a level that is as comfortable, or as challenging, as you want.

Raw Pilates: (Advanced only)

A fast paced, upbeat class suitable only for competent Pilates goers who can take the pace without their technique slipping! A good level of fitness with an excellent understanding of Pilates technique is required. Please ask if you are unsure if this is suitable for you.

Post natal:(post natal only)

We now hold dedicated post natal classes which invites you to bring your baby along. This class focuses on regaining your core strength after the birth. Babies up to walking stage are welcome to join you in the class! For further information, see our Pilates & Pregnancy page.

Pilates and Pregnancy:

Following the difficult logistics of finding a day & time that suited all our pregnant ladies we decided not to specify a class for Ante Natal - but our mixed ability classes are complemented with plenty of bumps! Every instructor has plenty of modifications for each stage of your pregnancy to keep you safe and comfortable in a mixed ability class. For further information, see our Pilates & Pregnancy page.

Pilates and Rehabilitation:

If you are doing Pilates through advice from your osteopath, physio or chiropractor, we can work closely with them to ensure that you are getting the best possible care. I would strongly recommend speaking to us prior to starting your classes or booking a 1:1 session to ensure that we are aware of any limitations and to ensure that you are comfortable with the basics. 

At Power of Pilates, we ensure a limited number of clients are in a class to allow for individual attention – this is not a mass produced production line, each body is different and every session is tailored to take each person into consideration.
